A vibrant hub created by entrepreneurs, for entrepreneurs at all stages to connect, learn, network and grow their ideas.
Founded in mid-2017, Startup Vancouver – the official Vancouver chapter of Startup Canada – is a volunteer-based organization that connects local entrepreneurs to the resources and people that help increase their ability to succeed. 2019 saw explosive growth in their community-building efforts, culminating with Co-Founder Colin Weston receiving The Startup Canada Award for Community Leader of The Year.
Embracing the core values of collaboration and diversity, Startup Vancouver passionately makes entrepreneurship welcoming and equitable for everyone, no matter their gender, age, cultural identity or sexual orientation.
Startup Vancouver strives to become the go-to entrepreneurship and innovation hub in Vancouver for both tech and non-tech pre-startups, founders and early-stage companies. They support entrepreneurs at all stages of their journey, along with showcasing all the great happenings in our city through events, partnerships and online community building.
Over the years, the City of Vancouver has evolved into one of the most vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystems in the world. As they grow, Startup Vancouver has leveraged this momentum and become the innovation hub that helps establish their home as a truly global startup city.
Pre-COVID19, Startup Vancouver staged impactful in-venue #VanStartupStories speaker events, monthly #VanStartupDrinks social mixers and #VanMentorMeetups. In true entrepreneurial spirit, they recalibrated their efforts by transforming offerings as virtual community-building events. They reimaged #VanStartupStories to now connect with a national audience as #CanStartupStories, staging “Celebrating Women Entrepreneurs”, “Celebrating Black Entrepreneurs” and “Celebrating Indigenous Entrepreneurs” in 2020.
In summer 2020 they also launched their weekly “What Keeps You Up At Night -Entrepreneurship During Challenging Times” live stream show that provides support, inspiration and levity for innovators across the county.
Startup Vancouver has quickly become the central gathering place for entrepreneurial community to celebrate success, share our challenges, expand their networks and acquire the knowledge necessary to reveal a market fit for their passion and ideas. Because their events are built to serve the community – which their supporting partners are an integral part of – they strive to improve and add value with every event they stage.
