Founded by Professor Wilson Picler, Uninter has trained thousands of students and grown to 1,700 employees by prioritizing respect, technology, and innovation.

The history of the Uninter Group, headed by Professor Wilson Picler, is an inspiring example within Brazil’s higher education sector. For more than 25 years, Uninter has democratized access to education through innovations that drive affordability. Centro Universitário Internacional Uninter, a core part of the Uninter Group, has received the top rating from Brazil’s Ministry of Education (MEC), reflecting its outstanding performance in distance learning in Brazil.

Wilson Picler, Founder of one of the best distance learning institutions in Brazil.

With headquarters in Curitiba, Paraná, and operations throughout Brazil and abroad, Centro Universitário Internacional Uninter has transformed more than 1 million lives through education. It has 620 thousand graduates and more than 500 thousand active students in various undergraduate, postgraduate, master’s, doctorate, technical and extension courses. Professor Picler’s commitment to transforming lives is evidenced by Uninter’s impressive growth and contribution to education, job creation, and development.

Uninter was established in 1996, when Wilson founded the Brazilian Institute of Postgraduate Education and Extension (IBPEX) to offer in-person postgraduate courses to teachers in Curitiba. Years later, it expanded with the launch of Facinter (Faculdade Internacional de Curitiba) and, subsequently, Fatec Internacional (Faculdade de Tecnologia Internacional), consolidating itself as a pioneer in distance education in Brazil. Other important Uninter milestones include the creation of the Intersaberes publishing house and the development of award-winning teaching materials.

Uninter’s infrastructure is impressive. It currently has more than 750 in-person support centers in Brazil, two campuses in Curitiba, and 17 international offices — nine in the USA, five in Europe, and three in Japan. Uninter also has large support centers in several Brazilian cities. These locations have robust infastructure and are equipped with stateof-the-art laboratories for hybrid undergraduate courses in health care, exemplifying Uninter’s commitment to quality and innovation.

With advances in technology, Uninter has developed approaches to teaching and learning that adapt to students’ schedules and needs. Whether remote, live, hybrid or in-person, all content can be accessed from smartphones, computers, or tablets, extending the classroom to any environment. Students benefit from online and in-person support that complement classes and course content available in multiple formats.

The Uninter Group’s history is not just a success story in Brazilian higher education, but also a testimony to the transformative power of education. By eliminating borders and obstacles, Uninter continues to open paths for those seeking training and professionalization.
