“Artificial intelligence (AI) has made its mark and has begun transforming every industry, government, and the lives of everyone on the planet,” states Ted Willich, NLP Logix Chief Executive. Ted is one of three founders of the company. He, along with Matt Berseth and Robert Marsh, started the company in 2011 when they believed that there would be a strong demand for machine learning and automation.
Over the years, they have noticed that for those who embrace and understand the technology, its capabilities and limitations, the opportunities for making massive strides forward are unlimited. Those who fail to recognize and apply AI to their industries or organizations will quickly be surpassed.
“What inspires me is working with the best team of technologists in the US, who really understand AI and every day allow our customers to transform their businesses,” said Matt Berseth, Lead Scientist.
“It is a great opportunity to have a front-row seat and watch the acceleration of AI technologies really deliver value—and not just hype—and to have Jacksonville be an epicenter for AI in the US is the icing on the cake,” added Ted Willich.

Since 2012, NLP has been competing in data-science contests across the world and consistently finished in the top 1%. These contests can be broken down into two different data science categories: Predictive Modeling, which uses large amounts of transactional data, and Computer Vision/Deep Learning, which requires interpreting large amounts of imagery.

In addition to being recognized for data science excellence through the international competitions, the team as a company at NLP Logix have been recognized by the Jacksonville Business Journal BizTech Awards for the best use of cloud technology as well as the “IT DREAM TEAM.” In 2016 and 2017 they were recognized as one of the top 50 fastest-growing companies in Northeast Florida and in 2018 NLP Logix made the Inc. 5000 America’s Fastest Growing Company List.
FUTURE FORWARD
The company takes great pride in giving back to the Northeast Florida community and over the past four years have run an analytics summer boot camp for rising seniors in the Duval County Public Schools.
The camp teaches the students the foundations of data science, so that they can support the goal that the company has to put Jacksonville on the map as an epicenter of the development of AI! The company is also an active supporter and Advisory Council Member of the National Association Veterans and Families, a Jacksonville-based veterans support organization as well as the Jacksonville Humane Society and K9’s United.
