At the heart of Myya lies a deeply personal mission inspired by the life and challenges faced by the Founder and CEO, Jasmine Jones. Witnessing her grandmother’s battle with breast cancer and the subsequent difficulties in finding supportive, well-fitting post-mastectomy bras and prostheses ignited a passion within Jasmine to create a solution that would transform the post-mastectomy experience for women everywhere.
“At Myya, we are revolutionizing post-mastectomy care by providing a personalized, insurance-billable shopping experience for bras and breast forms,” Jasmine shares. “Our innovative platform connects women nationwide with certified mastectomy fitters, bringing comfort and dignity directly to their homes.”
From Inspiration to Innovation
The seeds of inspiration bloomed during Jasmine’s grandmother’s treatment when Jasmine met Dr. Regina Hampton, a breast surgeon, at a breast cancer walk. This chance encounter led to a partnership that would become the cornerstone of Myya’s innovative approach. “When I met Dr. Regina Hampton, we knew that we needed to partner to make a difference in the lives of breast cancer survivors,” she says. Together, they opened the doors of Cherry Blossom Intimates, a groundbreaking lingerie boutique and fully accredited medical center aimed at serving breast cancer survivors with dignity.
In 2020, Jasmine took Cherry Blossom Intimates a step further by designing a collection of post-mastectomy bras and prostheses in inclusive sizes and skin tones and relaunching the business under the Myya name. By 2024, the company had fully embraced a remote model to serve survivors nationwide more effectively.
“Today, Myya offers beautiful, comfortable, and practical post-mastectomy care solutions,” she asserts. “Our mission is to empower women, ensuring they feel seen, understood, and celebrated. We believe every woman deserves to feel beautiful and confident, especially after such a challenging journey. By embracing innovation and inclusion, we strive to make a positive impact, transforming the post-mastectomy experience for thousands of women.”
Embracing Change and Telehealth
The COVID-19 pandemic presented Myya with an unprecedented challenge that demanded swift adaptation. The need to pivot was clear, and Jasmine embraced the opportunity to innovate further. “The pandemic pushed us to create a telehealth branch of our business. It was either pivot or fail. I knew it was time to take the leap, and we never looked back,” Jasmine recalls.
This transition allowed Myya to continue serving its customers and expanded its reach, making high-quality post-mastectomy care accessible to women nationwide. The telehealth model enabled personalized consultations and fittings, bringing comfort and dignity directly to the homes of those who needed it most.
The Heart of Innovation
For Jasmine, innovation is not just about technology or products; it’s about making a tangible difference in the lives of those she serves. “Innovation means being the change I wish to see in the world. It begins with me,” she says. Myya’s commitment to inclusivity, personalization, and community support sets it apart in the post-mastectomy care industry.
Myya’s dedication to innovation is evident in its philanthropic efforts as well. The company focuses on early detection of breast cancer, particularly in the Washington, D.C. area, which has the highest mortality rate for breast cancer in the nation. Through partnerships with local cancer organizations and healthcare providers, Myya is building a supportive network that empowers and uplifts everyone involved.
“We are deeply committed to our community, particularly in focusing philanthropic efforts on early detection of breast cancer,” she emphasizes.
As Myya continues to grow, Jasmine remains steadfast in her goal of positively impacting the lives of one million breast cancer survivors. “That’s a dream that has been on my heart since the first day, and I believe it is absolutely possible,” Jasmine affirms. The company’s innovative approach to post-mastectomy care and strong community ties position it for a bright and impactful future.
Contributing to the Innovation Ecosystem
Myya’s influence extends beyond individual survivors to the broader community and economy. By creating jobs, collaborating with local suppliers, and fostering partnerships, Myya contributes significantly to the region’s economic vitality. “As we grow, we continue to expand our team and foster local businesses, enhancing the economic landscape of our community,” Jasmine notes.
Through its innovative products, personalized care, and unwavering commitment to community support, Myya is not just a company but a beacon of hope and empowerment for breast cancer survivors. Jasmine’s journey, driven by a personal mission and sustained by relentless innovation, inspires all who seek to make a meaningful impact in their industries and beyond.
