The Maritime Association of South Carolina (MASC) is proud to celebrate a century of service to the maritime community in 2026. For almost 100 years, MASC has been at the heart of South Carolina’s dynamic maritime industry, forging strong connections, advancing critical issues & paving the way for a prosperous future.

A Legacy Built on Collaboration
MASC is a member-based trade association that acts as a vital platform where industry professionals, businesses, and government entities come together. With nearly a century of expertise, MASC fosters partnerships that promote the exchange of information, ideas, and best practices, empowering our members to thrive in an ever-evolving industry.
MASC is dedicated to ensuring that South Carolina’s maritime sector remains a global leader in commerce and transportation. Our members range from businesses directly involved in the maritime industry to those supporting its vast network, all working towards a common goal: to advance, promote, and protect the interests of South Carolina’s maritime community.

A Commitment to Advocacy and Progress
As an advocate for the maritime industry, MASC has made its mark on key issues that impact the future of the sector. Looking ahead, MASC continues to focus on issues like maritime security & opportunity zones as well as advancing our workforce development programs to ensure a skilled, competitive labor force. This includes our Annual Maritime & Logistics Youth Expo where we have over 1,000 students across SC come to Charleston to learn about the maritime & supply chain industry. Our advocacy efforts extend beyond local businesses and include critical collaboration with schools, trade organizations & governmental agencies, making sure that our industry’s voice is heard at every level.
Our committees play a central role in this, providing a forum for members to discuss and develop strategies to tackle pressing concerns to continue to push our industry forward.

A Thriving Network of Experts
The strength of MASC lies in its people—the dedicated professionals, business leaders, and government representatives who make up our membership. We are governed by a Board of Directors that represents every facet of maritime commerce & transportation in the state. This diverse board ensures that every aspect of the industry is considered in our decision-making processes, and that MASC’s initiatives are aligned with the needs and aspirations of our members.
In addition to our Board of Directors, MASC encourages active participation from its members through a range of specialized committees. These include committees focused on Events, Education & Workforce Development, Business Strategy & Membership. These committees are designed to foster collaboration and create a space for members to contribute to the organization’s ongoing success.
One of our most important initiatives is the Monthly Navigation/Operations Meeting, which serves as a forum for real-time updates and discussions on key maritime issues. This constant flow of communication and collaboration keeps our members informed, engaged, and ready to meet the challenges of an ever-changing industry.

Looking Ahead to the Next Century
As we approach our 100th anniversary, MASC remains more committed than ever to advancing the maritime sector in South Carolina. The next century promises exciting opportunities, and we are poised to play an integral role in shaping the future of our industry. Whether it’s through innovative infrastructure projects, technology & cybersecurity, or enhancing workforce development programs, MASC is dedicated to ensuring that South Carolina remains a powerhouse in the global maritime landscape.
We are excited to continue building on our rich history of collaboration, advocacy, and growth.
