Innovation goes beyond creating something new; it’s about making a meaningful difference. My journey, from Pakistan to the World Bank and into the realms of technology and communications, has been driven by this ethos. The turning point was recognizing gaming’s potential as a tool for impactful communication.
With a background in economics and after a 12-year stint at the World Bank venturing through 22 countries focusing on education policy, I realized the limitations of traditional communication methods in effecting behavior change. Gaming, a truly universal language, emerged as the solution. It’s a medium that educates, engages, and empowers, transcending conventional barriers.
Transitioning to a tech entrepreneur, I aimed to reimagine game creation and utilization. My vision is a world where anyone can harness video games for various purposes – education, social impact, marketing, or training – irrespective of their technical skills.
Breshna.io my brainchild, embodies this vision. It’s a platform that empowers a non-technical audience to create custom video games effortlessly and at no cost. Like Tiktok and Canva democratized content creation, Breshna.io democratizes game development, bridging the gap between the billion gamers and the limited pool of 200,000 game creators. This democratization is vital for ensuring diverse and inclusive content in gaming.
I foresee a future where gaming and storytelling merge, enabling every individual to be both a gamer and a creator. My mission extends particularly to education, transforming screen time into meaningful learning experiences. This approach doesn’t pull children away from screens; instead, it leverages their screen time for educational benefits.
Challenging the status quo in education and technology isn’t a path of least resistance, especially against the backdrop of traditional gaming conservatism. However, this resistance only strengthens my resolve to foster transformation and make screens a canvas of endless possibilities, where every game is a story, a lesson, or a movement. Change is never easy, but it’s necessary.
