INNOVATE™ Curitiba

FOUNDED IN 2004 AND INTEGRATED INTO THE INNOVATION ECOSYSTEM OF CURITIBA, QUANTA HAS BEEN OPERATING FOR TWO DECADES IN DIAGNOSTIC MEDICINE WITH MASSIVE INVESTMENT IN SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT.

Innovative sight bringing together Science and Technology
Through Inova, its Research and Innovation Department, Quanta Imaging Diagnosis invests and participates in various projects, cooperating with national and international institutions, developing studies in different health areas, and contributing to updated global protocols for diagnostic medicine.

An example is the Curitiba Heart Project. Recognized for promoting innovation, Curitiba, a city in southern Brazil, was the first in the world to implement Coronary Artery Calcium Scoring (CACS) as a screening test at the population level for intermediate-risk patients. The procedure, based on age and gender, can tell how likely a person is to get coronary artery disease (CHD) in the next five years. Under Curitiba’s project, asymptomatic patients – males aged 40 to 69 and females aged 50 to 69 years old, with intermediate Framingham risk score (FRS) – are selected to undergo CACS to identify subclinical atherosclerosis and start aggressive prevention, which is provided freely by the city healthcare system.

Quanta is a member of Pinhão Valley (Vale do Pinhão), the innovation ecosystem of Curitiba, through the Development Agency. Also, since 2007, it has been working with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) / United Nations (UN) to develop nuclear medicine aimed at cancer and heart disease diagnosis.

“Accurate diagnosis to guide the doctor in the most appropriate approach to preserve lives is our reason for existing,” says Dr. João Vicente Vítola, one of the founding doctors, recently awarded the Global Impact from the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology (ASNC).

Reference center for imaging diagnosis
In 2019, when it expanded its physical structure with state-of-the-art services and equipment in magnetic resonance, ultrasound, and radiology – in addition to its nuclear medicine and cardiological exams – Quanta began offering all imaging diagnostic exams in one place: a space with more than 32,290 sq ft (3,000 m²) of built area, emerging as one of the leading imaging diagnostic centers in Brazil.

Following a humanistic vision and formed by a highly qualified and experienced clinical team, including renowned doctors in their specialties, Quanta stands out by the quality of its exams and the precision of its technical reports, as well as innovative projects; the search for excellence is present in everything it does.
