Visit Bath’s mission is to support and develop the tourism and hospitality industry in the Bath and North East Somerset area, to ensure that it is marketed and managed effectively to maximize the opportunities of the visitor economy for the good of the region, enabling a thriving business community.

As the Destination Management Organisation, Visit Bath has a number of roles working within the visitor economy to manage and market the region as a place for leisure and business visitors. This includes developing effective routes to market and providing opportunities, advice, and support for businesses operating within the sector, as well as providing inspiration for consumers, travel trade, event organizers and other industry stakeholders. In addition to work with visitors in the region, it operates and delivers Bath Box Office and the Bath Christmas Market.

Bath is a place where ideas flourish and businesses grow, where creative, digital and technology meet traditional industry. It is at this interface where the solutions to the challenges of the future lie.  It is a destination built on innovation, so it is in the DNA of the city. From original thinkers and discoverers such as Adelard and Herschel through to modern day innovators, such as those that can be discovered at the renowned Bath Digital Festival.

We also understand the positive outcomes creativity brings to a city and its sense of place. With an architectural and urban design, we are proud to showcase Bath as a celebration of the arts and how the city brings all areas of the community of Bath together. The world-renowned and well connected city and only five minutes from the railway station, Bath Quays will offer a cluster of like-minded businesses the talent, facilities and strategic location needed to thrive.

Visit Bath is aiming to innovate the way in which the destination is presented to both leisure and business visitors. This includes an approach to presenting the destination that offers a contemporary approach to engaging with potential visitors both through innovative consumer marketing and a reintroduction of the destination as a whole to the world of business events and incentive travel. As our role is to promote and develop the visitor economy of Bath and North East Somerset it would be very difficult to do it elsewhere!

There are some big changes coming to Bath in the next year or so with changes in the hospitality industry and visitor experience. There are major refurbishments and new properties which will change the hospitality landscape, bringing new brands to the city centre and offering a different experience both for leisure and business visits.

Bath’s reputation and significance as a World Heritage City will be reflected through the creation of a high-quality new destination which continues the city’s proud history of innovation and invention. Bath is poised for a landmark 21st century development with a strong social purpose and spirit of wellbeing, which will deliver an inspiring and attractive environment for relocating businesses and an extraordinary legacy for future generations of entrepreneurs, employees and residents.

External funding has been secured to regenerate the area at Bath Quays which will become a vibrant destination for all to enjoy, opening up the river to pedestrians and cyclists. Attractive waterfront spaces for activities and events can be enjoyed by our community all year round. It’s not just the region’s natural assets that make it an attractive place to work and visit; the first- rate food & drink, thriving creative and tech industries, diversity and depth of cultural activity makes Bath a place to live.

This is one of the factors leading to Bath & North East Somerset having access to the range of workers that businesses need to thrive, encouraging businesses to locate to the area. Bath’s strong international brand and the quality of life offered by the area as a “beautifully inventive” place. The Bath area is home to a thriving ecosystem of technologists, engineers and creative thinkers who are busy partnering and collaborating to solve problems and to improve how things work.
