Working together for a Learning Health System

As Featured In:

We cannot do the same thing repeatedly and expect a different result. That is why we need to rethink our health system and innovate to make it a learning system.

The collective challenge of continuously improving Quebec’s health care system is significant. How can we achieve the necessary change? By working in partnership rather than in isolation, and by using scientific data and patient experience to improve the management, care and services provided to the population.

Innovating by supporting innovation
The Unité de soutien SSA Québec makes this metamorphosis possible. Science, citizen involvement, ideas and the motivation to do better are in place. Faced with this immense potential and the urgency to act, the Unit proposes to mobilize and facilitate innovations. It stands out by offering support for the management and implementation of change and for partnership work in health and social services in Québec. Responding to this pressing need is, in itself, unprecedented.

Implementing and supporting Change Management in Health Care
The Unit brings together researchers from across Québec who are highly qualified in partnership, capacity building, data management, data to knowledge transformation, and change management. It has patient partners at all levels of its governance and activates the patient community “expériences” which includes an indigenous circle. It provides the Network with the expertise to enable Québec to improve its care and service trajectories in a concerted manner.

Québec has robust standards and an enviable capacity to extract, structure, and store health data ethically. It also boasts internationally renowned universities and research centers for their expertise in data analysis and data to knowledge methodology. The Unité de soutien SSA Québec is committed to closing the loop by supporting the implementation of knowledge and facilitating practices based on data.

Engaging in the transformation of the health system culture
The Unit invites us to collectively engage in a transformation of our health system culture. Its team helps individuals and organizations in health care, research and social services work differently to achieve its quintuple aim. It offers its expertise in the form of consultation, training and tools throughout Québec and in certain Canadian collaborative projects.
