Growing up in the music business with a life-long passion for video games, Justin M. ASCAP, and the U.S. Copyright Office, all the while, gaming had always been a part of his social interaction and overall daily life. Justin’s passion started at an early age with Nintendo and grew into SEGA Genesis, N64; and then, eventually, becoming a daily player of Xbox and now PS4. In addition, he has been a life-long StarCraft and StarCraft II player while also growing in the entertainment space. After college and law school, Mr. Jacobson embarked on his professional journey as an entertainment attorney working with musicians, producers, songwriters, and; eventually, expanding into sports, art, and fashion worlds.
A few years later, he grew into the esports scene. Justin initially began working on the business and legal side of the industry where he has negotiated millions of dollars in professional gamer contracts and has worked with professional gamers, streamers, coaches, casters, teams, and brands in the space in most major esports titles and with most of the largest esports organizations across the world. Justin has gone on to author the first esports business law textbook, “The Essential Guide to the Business & Law of Esports & Professional Video Gaming” and begun teaching esports business courses at University of North Carolina Wilmington, among other higher educational institutions.
