The founding of SYNTHĂSE
SYNTHĂSE was founded in 2018 by ministère de lâĂducation et de lâEnseignement supĂŠrieur du QuĂŠbec (the provinceâs ministry of education and higher learning) following discussions among digital-creation companies, colleges, universities, associations, and representatives from ministère de lâĂconomie et de lâInnovation and ministère de la Culture et des Communications (the provinceâs ministry of economy and innovation and ministry of culture and communications).
Ălot Balmoral: a project for a cluster where education, R&D and digital creation companies will come together
SYNTHĂSE is affiliated with the UniversitĂŠ du QuĂŠbec head office and overseen by a governance committee consisting of representatives from target sectors: industry associations (QuĂŠbec Fim and Television Council, La Guilde du jeu vidĂŠo du QuĂŠbec, and Xn QuĂŠbec); colleges and universities; and ministère de lâEnseignement supĂŠrieur (the provinceâs ministry of higher education).
SYNTHĂSEâs mission and role
SYNTHĂSEâs mission is to bring together the various players from educational institutions and digital-creation companies (visual effects, 2D-3D animation, video gaming, and digital experiences) throughout QuĂŠbec to help align training programs and employment needs.
By fostering dialogue and networking between industry, education, and research, SYNTHĂSE acts as a catalyst in efforts to develop the talent needed to ensure continued vitality and growth in the digital-creation sector.

SYNTHĂSE promotes college and university research and contributes to networking between industry and education
SYNTHĂSE encourages innovation and knowledge-sharing through practical research while building ties among educational institutions, industry, and new talent. In addition to promoting research and development projects through various initiatives, SYNTHĂSE initiates networking activities involving the educational, research, and business communities. This research effort contributes to the development of new knowledge in art, science, and technology, thereby fostering interdisciplinary approaches.
SYNTHĂSE also aspires to endow QuĂŠbec with a domestic and worldwide showcase bringing together, under one roof, shared and collaborative workspaces. In so doing, it will deliver a boost to the development of leading-edge expertise and R&D in the field of digital creation by furthering ties between academic research and business needs.
