Origin & Growth Journey
Originally founded with an entrepreneurial spirit by Sam Cole in Greenville, SC in 1982, Sunland established itself as a successful local public warehouse provider in the Upstate of South Carolina. After learning the business through his experience as Sunland’s Head of Sales, Arch Thomason purchased the company in 2008 and became CEO with a new vision and an unwavering commitment to lead Sunland in becoming a great 3PL company. His first steps were focusing on quality and establishing service expertise. Then in 2013 he began assembling a diverse leadership team with the experience, expertise, and the heart to scale the company while adhering to its core values.
The Sunland team continues to expand its network of dedicated and multi-client warehouses in the Southeast and across the U.S. Attracting top industry talent with its unique company culture, focusing on continuous improvement, and strategically leveraging advanced technologies drives Sunland’s growth and ability to become a trusted supply chain partner to industry-leading companies.

There continues to be many exciting technological innovations in the supply chain industry that Sunland’s team evaluates and implements from leveraging drones for cycle counting inventory to dynamic control towers systems with predictive analytics to provide better business insights. Using the Plan, Do, Check, Adjust (PDCA) methodology throughout the process, Sunland approaches innovation collaboratively and in alignment with their customers’ needs and priorities.
