Scheduling and moving labor across construction projects sounds simple. But in reality, that couldn’t be further from the truth. It’s a never-ending process that’s nigh impossible to do accurately, efficiently and indefinitely.
To make this less of a hurdle, RIVET Work Inc. (RIVET) created a Workforce Management platform tailor-made for specialty construction contractors. Think of RIVET’s platform as a command center where contractors can monitor labor supply and demand.
There’s an acute labor shortage affecting the U.S. construction industry, not to mention an increase in mega-projects that add further strain by sucking up the available workforce. Until now, there hasn’t been a purpose-built tool to help specialty contractors manage and forecast field labor needs.
RIVET’s SaaS platform brings fragmented workforce data and processes online into a robust system of record with built-in Forecast, Schedule and Dispatch features. It replaces the last-century tools like spreadsheets, phone calls and magnet-filled whiteboards so prevalent in the construction industry.
“RIVET is solving a practical problem for the hard-working practical people who make up the construction industry,” said Ryan Meitl, co founder and CEO.
The company stands out from its peers due in no small part to its empathy and strong collaboration with clients. Customer feedback is the biggest driver of new features on the RIVET platform, with 90 percent of features coming directly from client requests.
Features that save customers money, like automated Labor Forecasts and Labor Requests, real-time Notifications and messaging dispatches that can be accessed virtually anywhere.
“We care about our customers,” Meitl said. “We care about their problems. It’s what sets us apart and has allowed us to build a best-in-class solution for contractors. It’s why our customers promote us to their peers: We care more than anybody else.”
Founded by Meitl, CMO Alison Accavitti, CTO Andy Lawrence and Director of Product Louis Gelinas, the team has since grown to over 40. The main office is headquartered in downtown Detroit, with a small satellite team operating out of Kansas City.
“We’re passionate about proving you can build [tech] companies like this in the Midwest,” Meitl said. “Detroit helped build the middle class in the early days of the auto industry, and really embodies the ethos of our customer. There is good, natural compatibility between the people building RIVET and the customers we serve.”
The RIVET team is dedicated to leveraging technology to champion the skilled trades, accelerate digital transformation and make construction an industry of choice for a new generation entering the workforce.
