History
Rampart Partitions Inc. was founded in 1973 by Karel C. Elhen, former Vice-President of Manufacturing and Engineering at Modernfold Canada. When Modernfold decided to close its Canadian operations, Karel C. Elhen started Rampart Partitions Inc. and brought with him an experienced team. Current president, Robert Elhen – Karel’s son and graduate engineer – joined the company in 1978.
Rampart began as a manufacturer of folding doors but soon diversified its product line. Acoustic wall panels were added in 1981, and in 1983, Rampart entered the office and contract furnishing market with its successful launch of the RS1000 Office System. A modular panel system featuring a wide range of integrated furnishings and accessories, the RS1000 was the impetus and inspiration for Rampart’s current line of office systems including the popular Variations Panel System.
Sharing the same passion for creating better work environments, Steve and Karl, Robert Elhen’s two sons, also joined the company receiving their bachelor of engineering, continuing the tradition and maintaining Rampart’s mission to offer high-quality office environments along with professional service and a focus on their clients.
