Quebec is currently well positioned and has all the right ingredients to be at the forefront of the next wave of disruptive innovations stemming from advances in quantum science and technology. In addition to the presence of internationally renowned researchers such as Gilles Brassard and Alexandre Blais, the numerous investments made over the last decades in related sectors such as optics-photonics, microelectronics and artificial intelligence will be beneficial to the accelerated development of the quantum technology sector in Quebec.
More recently, the establishment of an innovation zone dedicated to the sector and of high-performance computing (HPC) centers hosting quantum computers to facilitate access to them will propel the development of our ecosystem.
Québec Quantique was born in 2020 from the will of the quantum science and technology ecosystem players to coordinate their efforts and ensure that Québec is recognized as one of the world’s major developers of quantum technologies and that these technologies, developed here and elsewhere, are adopted by Québec’s major industrial sectors by 2030.
Québec Quantique is the agent that connects the various local and international players in order to catalyze the economic and social benefits in Québec from this booming sector. Québec Quantique is working on 3 fronts to achieve its objectives by:
1. Providing a platform for the sector’s players to attract talent, investment and companies to Québec;
2. Increasing collective business intelligence and democratizing knowledge about quantum technologies among businesses and the general public;
3. And by working collectively to increase the talent pool and ensure its long-term succession.
