Propulsion Quebec in brief
Commitment on the part of the Quebec industry and government to accelerate the development of the Quebec Electric and Smart Transportation (EST) sector led to the creation of Propulsion Québec, the industrial cluster for electric and smart transportation in Quebec, on April 20, 2017.
As an industrial cluster, our role is to ensure an effective alignment between our industry’s needs and the actions of the municipal, provincial and federal governments. We manage projects within the ecosystem in accordance with a shared vision by following a timeline with clear milestones and especially, by ensuring a steady rate of progress.
Our cluster supports its ecosystem in its implementation by bringing together stakeholders at themed events, such as: Impulsion, the international EST summit, which aims to generate new opportunities, or En Route! our event dedicated to attracting new skilled workers. We also established the Collaborative Innovation Hub for Mobility (CIM), which offers customized support to businesses thanks to a team of strategic sector-specific consultants, all located in a unique space.
As of 2023, Propulsion Québec comprises over 270 members, from industries and institutions to users and operators, collaborators and international members.
A meteoric rise
Over the past 5-years, the growth of the EST sector has been phenomenal. Our ecosystem is at the point of joining the inner circle of Quebec forerunners. The revenue for our sector companies has increased by more than 300%, reaching $3.3 billion in 2021. We now represent over 9,000 jobs in Quebec, which represents a growth of 51% over the past 3-years.

In Quebec, we manufacture all types of electric vehicles, except for cars. The expertise of Quebec stakeholders in public transportation, the transport of goods, and recreational vehicles is world-renowned in these niche markets, which portrays economic and environmental solutions for Quebec. From the manufacture of vehicles and their smart components to electric and smart infrastructures, the EST industry relies on cutting-edge technology developed by the different stakeholders in our ecosystem, positioning Quebec as a global frontrunner in electric and smart transportation.
