How can we ensure that the healthcare technologies we develop are robust enough to break into different markets? How can we support, and coach Quebec entrepreneurs as well as help stimulate the innovation ecosystem? This is the mission of MEDTEQ+ , a panCanadian consortium for industrial research and innovation in healthcare technologies. Over the past decade, MEDTEQ+ has supported more than 200 innovation projects, making it a key player in the positioning of healthcare technologies, both locally and internationally. By accompanying companies through the various stages of their technology’s development, MEDTEQ+ helps SMEs to “de-risk” their innovations and bring them to market. MEDTEQ+ ’s added value lies in its collaborative approach, combining the expertise of all players in the Quebec ecosystem to maximize impact. Together, they generate real economic wealth, reflected in the creation of over 1,800 highly skilled jobs, the development of expertise with the support of more than 681 students and almost 453 knowledge transfers. This collaboration plays a key role in the creation of new markets, with the commercialization of over 500 innovations in various fields.

Thanks to its unique business model and investment fund, MEDTEQ+ has teamed up with numerous co-investors to become a real lever for company portfolios across the country, including Quebec. For every dollar invested, nearly $20 in investment is generated. This leverage is crucial for start-ups seeking to reach the next milestones in their growth or to break into new markets. Always at the forefront and sensitive to emerging needs, MEDTEQ+ works proactively with various partners to understand the opportunities and challenges facing companies in the health technology sector: sustainable health, the aging population, the climate emergency and remote medicine, including space medicine. As the lead of the envisAGE project, the organization’s mission is to meet the challenges posed by an aging population by catalyzing the innovation ecosystem and accelerating the development of AgeTech technologies.

MEDTEQ+’s Beachhead™ network is composed of 14 specialized centres of excellence dedicated to the adoption of new technologies and services in the healthcare environment. Created by MEDTEQ+ , this unique partnership between a clinical centre of excellence and companies aims to facilitate exchanges and accelerate the adoption of innovations, including evaluation in real healthcare settings in collaboration with patients, researchers, clinicians, healthcare administrators, governments, and industry, according to a clear and accelerated process.
