Lingokids is a play-based and 100% safe app with unique Playlearning™ content for kids between 2-8 years old. It was launched in 2016 when our CEO, Cristóbal Viedma, was looking for an educational tool to teach English to his young niece.
That same year, at Lingokids we began a partnership with Oxford University Press to feature pedagogic insights and materials to ensure a quality educational curriculum. The curriculum is designed by our Board of Educators, which consists of experts in early childhood language learning, and is under constant review for areas of improvement.
After a few months, Lingokids received its first-ever accolade: Mom’s Choice Awards App. Since then, we have received many more awards and recognitions from esteemed programs like enlightED, PTPA, Product Hackers Awards, and Educational App Store.
Only one year later, the app became KidSAFE Coppa Certified. We are relentlessly committed to keeping children safe and secure online. Lingokids guarantees a 100% safe space for kids where personal data
is fully protected and the app is ad-free, giving parents complete peace of mind and total control over the content their children interact with online.
During 2018 and 2019, we started raising our Series A and B investment round. In 2021 we completed our Series C round, led by top international investors, to ensure success in our mission: get to 100 million families worldwide, help parents raise amazing kids, and break down educational barriers to create equal opportunities for all children.
We have donated licenses to families, educators, and schools impacted by the COVID-19 crisis during the last two years. In addition, we’re constantly collaborating with NGOs like UNICEF, Save the Children, and Pies Descalzos to ensure that we reach families and kids around the world who cannot afford the Lingokids app.
Thanks to our industry-leading talent, we deliver fun and engaging content abundant with more than 750 activities: chants, songs, episodes, crafts, curiosity moments, and more. Of course, we also have our beloved and unique Lingokids characters: Billy, Cowy, Lisa, Elliot, Baby Bot, and Bobby–all developed by our amazing Lingokids Studio team. Additionally, in March 2022, we released our first physical game with Ravensburger.
One thing that has remained consistent throughout the years is our Playlearning™ method – the more children play, the more they’ll learn! That’s why our approach continues to be interactive and game-based.

Lingokids can be found in both App Store and Play Store and has a free version that allows users to play three activities per day. The app also has an unlimited version, with which users can play endless activities per day, access our program center, play on all mobile devices, and play offline ($15/month approx). It is the #1 educational app in more than 90 countries (App Store) and has a 4.5-star rating according to more than 60K reviews in the App Store.
