The Centre de géomatique du Québec (CGQ) is a college centre for the transfer of technology (CCTT) affiliated with the Cégep de Chicoutimi. Our centre is part of Tech-Access Canada’s network of technology access centres (TACs). Our mission is to promote the development of businesses and organizations through innovation, research and knowledge transfer in the field of geomatics. What is more, by involving college teachers and students in our CCTT’s activities, we contribute to enhancing the education of young people and stimulate their interest in scientific careers.
Geomatics is the science of collecting, storing, analyzing, interpreting and disseminating geographic information. Qualitative and quantitative georeferenced data are presented in such a way as to make them easier to understand and to use as an aid in the management of natural and human environments.
The CGQ boasts a multidisciplinary team of experts working in various sectors, such as municipal geomatics, resource management, environmental monitoring, transportation and logistics, tourism and recreation, and heritage development.
Geomatic research is one of the key services we offer. Through research, we can develop innovative processes and ensure the transfer of technologies to businesses and organizations. With our equipment pool that is unique in Canada and our experts trained in using our many devices and software, we are ready to meet your needs. We have a wide range of active and passive sensors, GNSS sensors, a solid and efficient IT infrastructure, and access to various data acquisition platforms.
Organizations working with a CCTT—like the CGQ—may be eligible for targeted funding. Our team will help you find the best funding sources for your project and can draft your applications for you.
