Jessica Medeiros & Suzanne Duncan, The founders of Femme Gaming have loved playing all kinds of video games for as long as they can remember. Professionally and personally, they have been advocates for women in ensuring diversity and equality are at the forefront of everything they do. Femme Gaming is the embodiment of their collective values.
Jessica has always been very passionate about gaming and looked for ways to incorporate this into a potential career. She worked at her first video game launch for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare in 2014. She then represented PlayStation at the home games for the NBA’s Toronto Raptors and the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs. She also started working tournaments for World Gaming Network, in the back end setting up the consoles before the show and working the frontline managing registration of the players. Jessica started Femme Gaming out of her comprehensive experience in the esport industry and out of her enduring passion for playing video games.The worldwide embrace of Femme Gaming as a brand promise of the empowerment of the female gamer is the direct result of Jessica’s inspiration. Femme Gaming is Suzanne and Jessica’s vision for what gaming should be as an experience for all esport & gaming enthusiasts. #FemmeArmy is the living embodiment of that possibility for a global community of female gamers.
Suzanne Duncan is an award-winning sport marketing maverick possessing the perfect marriage of off the chart EQ and strategic, operational leadership. With a background in international business relations and sports marketing, Suzanne’s experience has been defined by the successful architecture of integrated marketing solutions and partnership models for blue-chip global brands such as P&G, Visa, Bell , Adidas and global events in traditional sports like the Olympics, FIFA World Cup & Super Bowl. The convergence of esports and traditional brand partnerships led Suzanne to marry her casual love of gaming with an immersive dive into the esport ecosystem. She understood the imperative of gaining fluency in the esport space in support of the levelling up of her sports business trajectory.
It was more than serendipitous that the two founders met in the VIP Partners section of OverActive Media’s Toronto Ultra Call of Duty team launch. Two thought leaders in the esports biz became one that day. From that day forward, it’s been “Game On!”
Jessica and Suzanne’s collective experience in both esports and traditional sports was the launchpad towards curating a game-changing space for women in gaming & esports. As the popularity of esports & gaming continues to explode, Femme Gaming’s leadership is proving instrumental and positively vital in this space. Femme Gaming’s efforts to deliver training, inclusive tournaments, industry thought leadership and content curation in support of elevating the female gamers, is the core of it’s business. Esports in it’s foundational implementation is already mirroring the inequities of traditional sport. The concept of a fair game – equal opportunity, diverse, talent-driven and female friendly gaming industry would be out of reach . Organizations like Femme Gaming are a cultural and business imperative for the innovative future of gaming & esports. The gamers however are the polar opposite, a healthy balance of men and women across the board participate worldwide.
