Groupe CTT is a non-profit organization specializing in applied research, development and analysis in the fields of technical textiles, geosynthetics and advanced textile-based materials. Created in 1983, Groupe CTT was one of the first college centres for the transfer of
technology in Quebec. It is located on the Cégep de Saint-Hyacinthe campus.

Over the years, our team has provided support for the innovations of a vast number of manufacturers and innovators through the development of expertise and know-how that is both unique in North America and recognized worldwide.

Our experts focus mainly on 7 areas of research: smart textiles, textile chemistry, technical textiles, 3D composite preforming, geosynthetics, ecotextiles and processes, and the Arctic climate. Thanks to this research expertise, manufacturers and users can develop new applications for textile and geosynthetic materials in agriculture and fisheries, furniture, building construction, packaging, the environment, civil engineering, clothing, industry, healthcare and hygiene, personal protective equipment, sports and leisure, and transportation.

With our technical support service, clients can test the performance properties of materials developed by our R & D experts or directly by industrial manufacturers and users across the value chain, whether they be start-ups, SMEs or large companies.

Our R & D, technical support and knowledge dissemination activities relating to geosynthetics are carried out by our SAGEOS division, which is internationally renowned for its excellent work and its active involvement in standardization.

Always attuned to industry needs, Groupe CTT is strongly committed to developing technologies and activities in line with the 17 sustainable development goals set by the United Nations. We support manufacturers in their efforts to move towards biobased product solutions, low energy production, more eco-friendly chemical formulations, the use of biodegradable or recycled materials, and much more.

In addition, during our operations abroad, we promote Canadian manufacturers under the name of Team Textile Canada.

Our key annual figures:

  • 500 applied research projects
  • 1500 technical support projects
  • 20 international fairs, conferences and technical committees
  • 1 NSERC industrial research chair in innovative technical textiles (NSERC NEXTEX Chair)
