NOS Alive has transformed Algés, Oeiras riverside into the country’s main stage bringing the biggest names in the international and national music industry. It has been consistently considered, by the international press, one of the best music festivals, offering outstanding and unique line-ups mixing all-time greats with newfound talent. Since its first edition in 2007 this music festival has annually brought hundreds of thousands of people gathering in a unique cultural experience around seven (7) stages including one dedicated to stand-up comedy.

Everything is New was founded in 2007 with strong objectives: to create innovative projects, develop new audiences and elevate the cultural offering in the country.

Promoting over 120 shows per year, including successfully internationalizing the Fado Festival and taking a national genre of music to more than 10 cities around the world. Our company isn’t only about music, we have also forged our position amongst other cultural areas promoting and producing exhibitions from internationally renowned Portuguese artist Joana Vasconcelos to street graffiti artist Banksy to Harry Potter: The Exhibition and Ai WeiWei.

NOS Alive music festival brings to Oeiras each year 150 thousand festival goers of which over 30 thousand are coming from 10 different countries.

For 13 consecutive years it has earned the people’s preference with its eclectic line-ups raging from rock
to pop, to indie and alternative. Some of the world’s biggest artists have performed on our stages from Pearl Jam to Beastie Boys, Bob Dylan, Metallica, Coldplay, The Chemical Brothers, Radiohead, Grace Jones and The Cure just to name a few.

Making the most of its location, only 10 minutes away from the city centre and 20 minutes from the nearest beach, our strategy has been to distinguish the festival as a short-term destination. By creating a product package that includes the ticket granting access to the festival, accommodation and an experience, that can range from a surf lesson to an urban art tour or even food tasting.

Brands account for a quarter of the festival’s financing and they seek to conquer a place in festival-goers’ memories, and for this they will go as far as to invest 30% to 40% of their marketing budget. They play a special role in creating new content for the festival without adding extra value on ticket prices.

Throughout the various editions, the festival is certified for our optimization of waste management and, throught the various editions, has taken upon itself to innovate in terms of sustainability by implementing various measures in order to minimize its ecological footprint:

• currently 90% of its energy originating from the network;
• the main eating court is composed of furniture made up of recycled materials; and
• brands are strongly encouraged to select wisely their giveaways in order to include reusable items.

In terms of social responsibility:

• Together with Oeiras Invest, NOS
Alive promoted a competition aimed at rewarding innovative projects in the field of social economy in the municipality of Oeiras. Projects that stood out, for their innovative and sustainable character;
• zero waste policy concerning food surplus;
• requalification of Algés train station; and
• in 2012 it was the first festival to create an exclusive area for pregnant women.

Our vision for the future is to continue to deliver the best line-up, always bringing the biggest names from around the world while also giving centre stage for the up and coming international and national talent.
