THE STARTUP WHISPERER: A GAME-CHANGING APPROACH TO EMPLOYEE BENEFITS.
The Company
Ellingson Group has redefined what it means to be an employee benefits brokerage by specializing in the unique needs of startups, tech companies, and venture capital firms. These industries are the engines of economic growth, driving innovation and creating jobs at a pace unmatched by other sectors. The success of these companies hinges on their ability to attract, engage, and retain top talent – a challenge that requires more than just competitive salaries and standard benefits.
Ellingson Group steps in with an innovative, high-touch, and cost-effective approach that enables these companies to secure the human capital they need to thrive and propel the economy forward.
While Ellingson Group serves all industries and company sizes, the Startup Program is their critical and unique niche that was previously lacking in the industry, earning the company the notoriety of being the go-to benefits brokerage for startups, tech companies, and venture capital firms, underscoring their dedication to innovation in an industry that is in desperate need of such innovation, insurance.
The Why
Before starting Ellingson Group, Elisabeth Ellingson was in a coveted role at the 5th largest brokerage in the world who was urging her to cease her work with startups and focus on larger clients, as virtually all other brokerages do. Flooded with referrals and remaining faithful to her startups as she continued to witness them grow into her largest clients, Elisabeth refused. At 32 years old, as upper management repeatedly told her she was “over-servicing” her clients, Elisabeth made the decision to leave, to create her own company, and to continue “over-servicing” clients, including startups.
Ellingson Group reached their one-year revenue goal in two months. The company’s success is fueled by their mission of changing perceptions of insurance while fostering health insurance literacy and accessibility for all, unwaveringly caring about the fact that people need help with the complicated landscape of insurance, regardless of the size of their employer.
To that end, Ellingson Group continues to make a lasting impact on Washington’s startup and tech ecosystem, propelling these industries forward by enabling these employers to hire and retain top talent, many of which would not have otherwise been able to secure the talent needed to grow their companies.
