Can we convert high-touch surfaces in such public spaces into safer and more hygienic areas?
Research has shown that elevator buttons have caused the spread of COVID-19. COVID-19 taught us that we need to eliminate high-touch surfaces. Through the pandemic, we developed an awareness to remain as hygienic as possible in our day-to-day routines and tasks – and an aversion to germs and high-touch areas.
However, these high-footfall and multi-user areas – think of a hospital’s elevator – cannot be avoided. Touching high-contact surfaces such as elevator buttons (especially in a hospital setting) can be perplexing and stressful for many. Transforming these surfaces into contactless interactions alleviates those risks.
Unquestionably, the world needs to effectively eliminate the risk of infectious disease transmission through physical contact. Safety is critical for our society, especially for families with immune-compromised members. The spread of germs can be stopped.
Touchless technologies transform those zones into safer spaces and surfaces. COVID-19 accelerated the digital transformation of these surfaces and small spaces. The world will likely not return to pre-COVID-19 routines as we all carry the experience with us in our daily activities.
I’m an inventor by nature, and I have devoted my life to technological innovation, taking sector-specific problems and transforming them into practical, commercialised solutions. Touchless technology, such as our HoverTap, is an essential safety consideration as it can mitigate infections and cross-infections in high-touch public spaces. Touchless technology can safeguard communities.
Advanced cleaning methods, upgraded air filtration systems, and stricter movement protocols combined all help reduce the spread of germs. Touchless technology is the missing component of this solution. I firmly believe that with innovations such as touchless technology, technology can prevent future pandemics.
