MILE CORRIGAN, PRESIDENT AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER, NOBLIS
I’ve always been drawn to science and technology – not for what it is, but to solve complex problems that matter. Science and technology both serve as pathways to uncover what’s possible and bring it into reality. Two decades later, those possibilities, our people, and our customers’ critical missions are still what drive me every day.
Today, as President and CEO of Noblis, I see that same potential playing out across Northern Virginia. This is a region defined by mission: national security, transportation safety, public health, and the responsible advancement of emerging technologies. The stakes are real. And the urgency is constant.
No single organization can solve these challenges alone. They are too complex, too interconnected, and too consequential for siloed thinking. Progress requires ecosystems where government, industry, startups, universities, and nonprofits work together to move ideas from discovery to deployment.
What sets us apart is our ability to translate that work into real-world mission impact.
I’ve seen what it takes to move innovation forward: the right expertise at the table and a clear focus on mission outcomes. Northern Virginia has the talent, mission alignment, and institutional strength to lead the nation in tackling its most pressing challenges. The breakthroughs that matter most happen when we move forward together.
From Curiosity to Calling
I chose Virginia Tech in the mid-1990s because Blacksburg was one of the most connected communities in the world at the time.
After graduating in 1999, I built web-based systems for commercial clients like General Motors. It was exhilarating. In 2001, I joined Noblis as a computer scientist and software architect.
What kept me here is simple: the critical missions we serve, the intellectual rigor, and the opportunity to continuously learn and grow. Along the way, I earned my MBA while taking on increasing executive leadership responsibilities. When I became CEO in 2022, it felt like a natural continuation of that journey.
Stay Curious, Stay Grounded
Curiosity, when paired with passion, drives discovery; innovation emerges when those discoveries are translated into impact. Technology is not the end goal – it’s the bridge that turns those discoveries into meaningful, real-world impact and mission outcomes.
At Noblis, we bring science, technology, and engineering together with strategy and creativity to solve problems for the public good. As a nonprofit, that purpose guides every decision we make.
My message to innovators across our region is this: stay curious, stay grounded in doing what is right, and bring others with you. The most meaningful breakthroughs come from asking better questions – and having the discipline and passion to see them through.
