As a not-for-profit organization, Corem works to improve the competitiveness of the mining industry and reduce environmental impact through the industrialization of innovative solutions. Corem works closely with its Canadian and international mining company members and clients, and its research and government partners to achieve this goal.
Founded in September 1999 following the privatization of the Mineral Research Centre under the auspices of the ministère de l’Énergie et des Ressources naturelles du Québec, Corem has been working since its inception on the development and d ployment of innovations aimed at improving the processes of active mining companies. The innovation centre is dedicated to the development of knowledge, processes, and technologies at both the laboratory and pilot scale. Corem has extensive equipment and infrastructure, including two pilot plants and mineralurgy, mineralogy and hydrometallurgy laboratories, which allow for innovation.
Corem stands out for the recognition of its expertise, its proximity to its members and clients, its mission, and its international attraction, which makes it a recognized contributor to the mining sector. Its ability to develop and reproduce most processes at both laboratory and pilot scale enables the mining industry to reduce risk and validate the metallurgical, economic, and environmental performance of new technologies and process developments.
