In an industry defined by constant change, lasting forty years is not just a technology achievement. It is a trust achievement.
People often ask me the secret to lasting four decades in one of the fastest-changing industries in the world. They expect the answer to be technology, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, or the cloud. The truth is much simpler. Technology has never been the reason we have lasted. People have.
Constant C began in 1986 as a software company serving independent video rental stores. I thought I was building software. Looking back, I was learning how businesses think. Technology is only ever the tool that helps someone reach a goal. That lesson has guided every decision we have made since.

One early moment still captures who we are. A customer asked if I could connect two computers together. Without hesitation, I smiled and said, “Absolutely.” I walked back to my car feeling great, until I realized I had no idea how to actually do it. So I turned my mother’s basement into my first networking lab. I read, tested, failed, tried again, and eventually those two machines talked to each other.
I thought I was learning networking. What I was really learning was that our future would always depend on our willingness to learn whatever came next.
That willingness to learn became our engine. We did not change because a consultant told us to. We changed because our customers kept asking new questions. Software became networking. Networking became servers. Servers became managed services. Managed services grew into cybersecurity and cloud. Each pivot came from listening closely to the businesses we served and learning early enough to help them through whatever came next.

Today, that same instinct has led us to artificial intelligence. We have fully embraced AI inside our own business, and more importantly, we now help our clients adopt and manage AI safely. That means helping them identify practical use cases, protect sensitive data, create responsible policies, and bring AI into their workflows without adding unnecessary risk.
Innovation is not always loud. Sometimes it looks like a Manitoba business opening its doors on Monday morning with secure systems, working tools, and the confidence to take its next step.
That consistency has earned recognition, including the Winnipeg Consumer Choice Award and finalist honours for the MSP Titans of the Industry. But inside Constant C, the more meaningful measure has always been people. Team members have stayed with us for fifteen, sixteen, even twenty-one years. Former employees came back to celebrate our 40th anniversary because the relationships never really ended.
We thought we were building a technology company. We were not. We were building trust, careers, and friendships. Every piece of technology we ever installed eventually reached the end of its life. The relationships never did.
Companies do not earn forty years one anniversary at a time. They earn it one promise kept at a time.
