The Centre de métallurgie du Québec (CMQ) is a college center for the transfer of technologies (CCTT) attached to the Cégep de Trois-Rivières. Created in 1985, the CMQ aims to “support the competitiveness of the metallurgy industry through research and technological development in a collaborative approach with private and public partners while supporting technical education at the college level and the transfer of knowledge to businesses”

The Centre’s team of 60 people, including 10 to 15 college and university students per year, focuses on applied research and technology transfer to support the growth and strategic positioning of companies with activities related to metal processing. In addition to providing advanced training in metallurgy and non-destructive testing, the CMQ offers a wide range of professional services to companies, following the most recent technological advances:

 

 

Research and development: aluminum transformation, additive manufacturing, metal forming, new alloys, powder metallurgy, corrosion and metal protection, non-destructive testing, welding and modeling. The lightening of parts and structures as well as various technologies and processes related to industrial applications consider the environmental challenges to be taken up by our customers, in particular with regard to the embrittlement of metals by hydrogen;

 

 

Technical information research, optimization and improvement of metallurgical processes, design and development of metallic products, short series production, etc.

 

 

Metallurgical expertise: failure and degradation studies, comparative product studies and material selection.

 

 

Each year, the CMQ serves more than 200 manufacturing companies located in Quebec, Canada and abroad. Nearly 70% of our clients are SMEs. These achievements are possible thanks to a team with a wide range of skills. The Centre offers research infrastructures on a surface of more than 45,000 square feet, worth more than $30M.

The Team operate in an ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and ISO 9001:2015 environment. The staff is made aware of the importance of integrating quality documentation in the realization of their various mandates.
