Nearly 18,000 people work, practice, study and work here. The CHUM offers the best specialized and super specialized care to all Quebecers and improves their health, based on scientific knowledge that is constantly updated by a research and teaching community. The CHUM Research Centre is the largest research center in the field of biomedical and health sciences. It is one of the largest and most modern in Canada.
We take an integrated approach to health. This is expressed in all aspects of our mission: care, teaching, research, management, innovation and in partnership with the public and our collaborators.
Innovation, including artificial intelligence (AI), is one of the pillars on which the CHUM relies to achieve its mission.
All of the CHUM’s innovative projects aim to:
• Improve the patient experience and the results of care and services (e.g., improved quality, accessibility, equity);
• Improve the health of populations (e.g. professional reintegration, health promotion, sustainable development)
• Reduce health care costs and optimize resources;
• Improve staff and team experience and wellness;
• Amplify innovation through an open, innovative, learning (research) and teaching (training) system.
The CHUM uses data analyzed by AI to personalize health and create value. The CHUM’s objective is to develop, experiment, implement and measure the value of AI in a collaborative approach to integrate it into its practices as long as it is relevant and creates value. This development is supported by several initiatives that allow AI to be implemented in a responsible manner, such as the School of Artificial Intelligence in Health and the Centre for Integration and Analysis of Medical Data.
