ELEVATOR PITCH

Bluedrop Training and Simulation is a newcomer to the Florida Defense Marketplace, but not to the defense industry. They established an Orlando office in March of 2019 to bring the innovation and expertise gained in the Canadian Defense industry to the US Marketplace. The proximity of the Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division (NAWCTSD), US Army Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation (PEO STRI), USMC Program Manager for Training Systems (PMTRASYS) and Air Force Agency for Modeling and Simulation (AFAMS) made it a natural place for Bluedrop to establish its US footprint. Bluedrop is a Canadian company that can trace its roots back to 1952. Bluedrop has over 25 years of experience working with Canada’s Armed Forces, as well as providing development capabilities and innovative solutions for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Prime Contractors. The Orlando based office will continue to bring Bluedrop Training and Simulation’s innovative solutions to the defense modeling, simulation, and training community.

OUR STORY

Bluedrop designs and develops advanced training solutions including highly interactive courseware and state-of-the-art virtual reality and augmented reality (VR&AR) training and simulation products. As a Small- Medium-sized enterprise, Bluedrop is the partner of choice for large OEMs; bringing capabilities in Research & Development (R&D), innovative solution development and execution excellence.

Bluedrop meets the demands of today’s industry by providing blended training solutions from the classroom through to simulated virtual environments aimed at improving safety, productivity and efficiency. Bluedrop also offers In-Service-Support (ISS) on major defense programs. Bluedrop is presently supporting the ISS activities for both flight simulators and training courseware. These activities are critical for Bluedrop as they provide long term recurring revenues as well as stability for the company.

Bluedrop Training & Simulation is currently working on the design, production and delivery of rear crew mission training simulators for the United States Air Force and the Canadian Air Force. In 2018, they delivered a Hoist Mission Training System (HMTS) to the Canadian Air Force and full CH-47 Rear Crew Mission Trainer (RCMT) to The BOEING Company. There are plans for additional platform deliveries including the Combat Rescue Helicopter HH-60W Hoist Mission Training System and a V-22 Osprey Rear Crew Mission Trainer.

Bluedrop has provided the Initial Cadre Training courseware for the Arctic Offshore Patrol Ships (AOPS) under Canada’s National Shipbuilding Strategy. Bluedrop’s Halifax office has 110 full-time employees, including 25 positions that were created as a direct result of the AOPS contract. They’re now planning on expanding these capabilities to their Orlando based office for programs such as the US Navy’s Sailor 2025 Ready Relevant Learning (RRL).

Bluedrop’s innovative products require the capability to demonstrate what they believe, are never-before-experienced features at their level of fidelity. Bluedrop’s virtual reality trainers are still a challenge for some ‘traditional’ customers to understand and grasp the impact on the future of training for rear crews that will include ‘Millennials’.

The demonstration capability will showcase Bluedrop’s state-of-the-art virtual reality rear crew mission trainer and hoist mission training system. This will permit real-time experience in the simulator and more importantly, influence the requirements for future procurements. This is integral to Bluedrop’s business development strategy. Presently, they must invite potential customers to either come to Shearwater on the Canadian Air Force base or to come to Philadelphia at Boeing’s Chinook production plant. Obviously, these demonstrations present logistical challenges. The R&D area will provide an environment that will stimulate innovation and will provide leading-edge development tools, such as mobile virtual training devices to provide a full understanding of their state-of-the-art solutions. This will ensure that Bluedrop extends its capability even further into the Florida Defense Marketplace, becoming another viable employer for the defense workforce in Central Florida.
