OUR STORY

Founded in 1993, Armadillo saw the potential to develop a business that provided motivating and inspiring customer journeys. Today, Armadillo introduces and runs innovative CRM strategies for brands such as McDonald’s, Disney, P&O Cruises, Cunard, and Hotels.com. Our CEO, James Ray, has been with the business since 1996. His expert knowledge and drive have seen him spearhead Armadillo’s evolution into the agency it is today.

In this digital era, the possibilities are limitless, from social media to real-time messaging and apps. We harness strategy, data, and tech to deliver effective and creatively crafted CRM solutions that ensure a customer’s engagement with a brand feels effortless.

Our way of working cultivates curiosity. We like to dig deep to understand our clients’ business, their customers, and their market. Becoming a strategic partner with our clients is what ensures us results and long-term relationships.

We believe in letting data shape creativity. Winning a DMA Gold for our McDonald’s ‘Monopoly Wiiiin!’ campaign in the ‘Best Use of Email’ category was proof that it works. The message reflected the real-life experience of the audience and was delivered in a timely and relatable way. The campaign saw unprecedented results for the brand, encouraging an incremental 400,000 players to the online game; a 10% conversion rate which equated to 13% of the entire promotion traffic across all channels.

When it comes to innovative CRM, we like to challenge our thinking. The appointment of Ann Hiatt, ex-Google and Amazon advisor, as Non-Executive Director has done that. “Armadillo is on an exciting growth trajectory, building on their already strong foothold in digital CRM. I look forward to applying my Silicon Valley learnings and partnering with Armadillo’s leadership in their mission to apply new technologies and ideas to their business”.

We also run Technology and Society events, joined by numerous entrepreneurs, startups, editors, and guest authors, including David Rowan, Timandra Harkness, and Jamie Bartlett. These sessions have formed networks, sparked ideas, and produced content that we’ve shared with the wider community.

The South West is a hub for innovative creative and tech businesses and Armadillo is proud to be the only independent, owner-managed CRM agency in Bristol. Our Executive Chairman, Chris Thurling, is also Chair of Bristol Media, the membership organisation championing the West of England’s creative industries. Though Bristol-based, we individually hail from many locations, bringing a mixture of big agency experience and fresh, innovative minds to the table. At Armadillo we’re a happy team, but we take what we do seriously and are always keen to help clients dig a little deeper.
