The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development’s CareerOnestop.org provides employment solutions to job seekers and businesses across the United States. Sponsored by the US Department of Labor, CareerOneStop curates the most authoritative data and resources available on the topics of career exploration, education and training, and job searching—and delivers customized information to Americans at all levels of experience, education, and ability. In short, CareerOneStop aims to connect workers and employers and to demystify the employment world for individuals, businesses, and workforce professionals while promoting success for all.

CareerOneStop’s flagship website, CareerOneStop.org, features a growing toolkit of nearly sixty user-friendly online tools, including:

  • Job Finder to search updated, local job listings in any US location
  • Veterans Job Matcher to match military skills and experience to
    civilian jobs
  • Occupation Profiles and Career Videos to explore and learn about indemand careers
  • Salary Finder to identify average salaries for nearly 900 occupations,
    in any US location
  • Certification Finder to identify certifications that demonstrate skills
    and knowledge to employers
  • Local Training Finder to locate training programs—short-term
    through four-year—in any US location
  • American Job Center Finder to find and contact an AJC for in-person
    employment assistance
  • Interest Assessment with 30 quick questions to help identify careers
    that match a user’s interests
  • Skills Matcher that lets users rate themselves on 40 key skills—and
    identify careers that match

  • GetMyFuture offers career, training, and job search resources to
    young adults age 16 to 24
  • Credentials Center helps individuals plan, locate, and pay for
    education, training, and other credentials to help them start, change,
    or advance their career
  • mySkills myFuture helps laid-off workers and other career changers
    explore new careers that may use skills and experience gained in
    previous jobs
  • Veteran and Military Transition Center provides employment-related
    resources for veterans and those currently transitioning from the

    individuals tools and resources to help them explore careers, get
    training, and find employment
  • Disaster Recovery Services offers quick access to a range of
    employment and related resources for people and businesses impacted
    by floods and other disasters

Innovation

Founded in 1998, today CareerOneStop continues a legacy of innovation by leveraging existing and emerging platforms to ensure we can deliver information that’s easy to consume for our diverse range of users. New projects include:

  • Videos Our recently launched collection of career videos replaced a decades-old collection. The videos, available in English and Spanish, provide a brief visual introduction to the details and highlights of more than 800 careers and are heavily used by people and organizations across the US. Currently in production are industry, skill, and other career exploration videos.
  • CareerBot CareerOneStop continues to refine its award-winning front-line customer service pop-up bot that helps users quickly find the resources they seek on CareerOneStop websites. Next step: improving Artificial Intelligence capabilities to increase our chatbot’s usefulness.
  • Apps and mobile-friendly resources All CareerOneStop tools and content are formatted to work on smartphones, tablets, and desktops— and our free app (downloadable for Apple or Google devices) features 32 of our most-used career tools. Upcoming products include more stand-alone apps targeted to specific audiences.
