In the heart of downtown Winnipeg sits a magical place designed for joy, comfort, and a new way of caring for children and families on some of life’s hardest journeys.
For more than 40 years, The Dream Factory has made Dreams come true for Manitoba kids facing life-threatening illnesses. A Dream might be a trip to Disney World, a meeting with a hero, or a bedroom transformed from floor to ceiling. Each Dream is shaped around what matters most to the child and delivered in a way that goes beyond anything they imagined.
But a single Dream, however magical, is just one moment in a long medical journey. So, The Dream Factory asked what it could be for families in between. In January 2025, the organization opened the doors to a brand-new community space built for connection, where kids and their families can gather, play, and find a moment of normal.
Every decision in that space began with care. The result is a place built for comfort and respite, where events and parties happen every week, and where Dream Kids get to operate the one-of-a-kind Dream Machine. When a child is ready to decide on their Dream, they pull the levers, crank the gears, and press the big red flashing button, watching their Dream come to life before their very eyes. It’s a milestone along their Dream Factory journey, and a powerful symbol of hope to remember forever.
It’s everyday magic: not a one-time gift, but a place families return to when they need a moment of peace or an opportunity for celebration.
