Most people don’t reject new ideas because they’re irrational. They reject them because they’re using the wrong frame.

I learned this the hard way. Coming from the payment’s world, I initially looked at Bitcoin like a payment network and asked, “Why is it so slow?” That’s the classic mistake: judging a protocol as if it were a product. It’s like touching the elephant’s tail and declaring, confidently, that the whole animal is a rope.

To understand what’s changing in our world, I use a simple three-layer lens. Civilizations run on protocols (the shared rules we agree to), platforms (the rails and networks that scale behaviour), and products (the things we buy and use). Products evolve fast. Platforms take longer. Protocols outlive governments.

Right now, we’re living through a rare moment where all three layers are shifting at once. AI is transforming platforms by pushing the cost of “intelligence” toward zero. Robotics will reshape products by making production radically more efficient. And in finance, Bitcoin represents a potential protocol shift: a new monetary infrastructure that isn’t owned by a CEO, isn’t expanded by political decisions, and is capped at 21 million units by design.

Why does that matter? Because our current monetary protocol is debt-based, and debt-based systems structurally rely on inflation. But the technologies that are defining the next decades – AI, automation, global connectivity – are fundamentally deflationary forces. They let us create more with less. When productivity soars, a healthy market wants to pass those gains back to society.

This is where the discomfort begins. Protocol conversations trigger belief conversations. If you feel cognitive dissonance, don’t run from it – use it as a signal that you’re examining the foundations, not just the surface. In Stockholm, where innovation is part of the culture, we’re in a strong position to have these conversations early – and build responsibly.

My mission is simple: unlock global finance by making the system more open, more resilient, and more accessible – so that builders, creators, and everyday people can participate in the next economy on equal terms. I share this as an educational perspective, and I hope it helps you zoom out far enough to see the whole elephant.
