INNOVATE™ Stockholm

When Einride was founded in Stockholm in 2016, few imagined that a small team of technologists and transport visionaries would one day stand at the center of a global shift in how goods move. Yet within less than a decade, the company had become synonymous with the future of freight – digital, electric, autonomous – and had grown from a bold Swedish idea into a force reshaping a $4.6 trillion global industry.

Einride’s story has always been anchored in a simple insight: the world’s freight networks were ripe for reinvention. Across Europe and the United States, trucking remained highly fragmented, inefficient, and carbon-intensive. Ninety percent of asset owners operated fleets of fewer than ten vehicles. Utilization rates hovered around eleven percent. Beneath the backbone of global commerce lay a system badly in need of intelligent coordination.

From its Stockholm headquarters, Einride set out to build that intelligence. Its founders believed that electrification, autonomy, and digitization were not three separate revolutions, they were one. The result was a technology company that didn’t merely design vehicles, but orchestrated an entire ecosystem.

By 2025, the firm had expanded operations into seven countries and won the trust of more than 25 blue-chip customers, who relied on Einride for the transformation of their logistics flows. What made these relationships possible was Einride’s pioneering Freight-Capacity-as-a-Service model: a turnkey offering that combined AI-driven planning tools, electric and autonomous vehicles, and strategically deployed charging infrastructure into one seamless service. For customers overwhelmed by the complexity of transitioning their fleets, Einride became a trusted partner.

The company’s autonomous technology quickly set it apart. In 2019, Einride earned what is believed to be the first permit to operate a cab-less autonomous vehicle on public roads in the EU. Three years later, it achieved another world first with an autonomous deployment on U.S. public roads. Purpose-built from the ground up, Einride’s cab-less vehicles represented not just advanced robotics but a philosophical shift, autonomous trucks should not mimic traditional trucks. They should be reimagined for the world they were meant to inhabit.

These breakthroughs were enabled by a trio of proprietary technologies: the Einride Driver, a vehicle-agnostic autonomous software; a rigorously documented safety case audited by third parties; and a remote-control tower system capable of assisting fleets across diverse conditions. By 2025, Einride autonomous vehicles were operating daily across multiple customer sites, even achieving the milestone of two trucks monitored simultaneously by a single human operator. Notably, the company maintained a flawless safety record with zero traffic incidents across all autonomous deployments.

Central to Einride’s advantage was Saga, its AI-powered operational platform. Saga absorbed an immense range of data, from transport demand to weather patterns, and continuously optimized routes, charging schedules, and asset utilization.

For Einride, the journey has always been about more than trucks. It is about reimagining the invisible networks that power the modern world, replacing outdated systems with intelligent, sustainable, human-centered design. As the freight industry is facing a monumental shift, Einride’s mission remains as bold as its beginnings in Stockholm: to transform how goods move – efficiently, autonomously, and responsibly – on a global scale.
