Across Europe, cities face growing pressure: build schools and kindergartens faster, adapt public spaces to changing needs, and cut the environmental cost of construction. Estonian company Creatomus believes it has a solution. By combining modular design with digital precision, Creatomus offers municipalities a way to build smarter, more transparent, and more sustainable.

Manufaktuuri Kindergarten: Circular Thinking in Action

In Tallinn, Creatomus was part of the winning team behind the Manufaktuuri Kindergarten. The design combined authentic reconstruction of a historic villa with a new modular extension built on the 3Cycle system—a circular framework that makes buildings easy to adapt or repurpose.

Unlike conventional methods, where a building is fixed to one function for decades, the 3Cycle approach ensures materials and layouts can be reused, extended, or redirected to new purposes. A kindergarten today could become a community hub, eldercare facility, or office tomorrow—without wasteful demolition.

Circularity is no longer a slogan; it’s a necessity, the 3Cycle system gives cities freedom of choice. Buildings don’t lock you in—they evolve with you.

Stroomi Beach House: Mobility as an Asset

Another example came with the StroomiBeach House. Built as a temporary pavilion to serve beachgoers, it housed cafés, showers, lockers, and event space. But more importantly, it was designed for relocation. Instead of ending as scrap, the building can be moved to a new site and reactivated as a kindergarten, library, or community hall.

For cities, this represents a shift: modular buildings become mobile urban assets.

They can cover temporary needs while long-term plans develop, and then be reused elsewhere, saving both money and resources.

Technology That Removes Complexity

Supporting these projects is Creatomus’s developed a digital infrastructure, which makes complex design processes accessible. Cities can view options in 3D, adjust them in real time, and automatically generate clear documentation for stakeholders. Because the system is so intuitive, it requires no training—municipal staff can test and present ideas directly, without waiting for architects or engineers to translate.

Private developers such as McStain in the United States have already used Creatomus to sell expensive homes remotely, proving that its clarity inspires confidence. The same applies to public projects: when citizens, planners, and contractors see the same options in real time, trust grows and approvals move faster.

A New Role for Modular Manufacturers

The technology also reshapes how manufacturers operate. With Creatomus, producers can share design libraries, control user rights, and monitor network-wide data.

This ensures they scale their reach without losing control of quality or intellectual property. Modular producers are fully integrated into the system, meaning their production logic and constraints are reflected directly in the configurator.

Perhaps most striking is the platform’s simplicity. While its precision is strong enough to replace the role of architects in the sales process, it requires no specialist training. A salesperson can sit with a client, configure a home in real time, and generate all necessary visuals and documentation on the spot. Thanks to the 3Cycle system, adapting layouts or rethinking building use is equally straightforward—the circular design logic makes change simple, whether for housing, kindergartens, or community facilities.

Why Cities Should Care

Creatomus is more than a demonstration tool. It gives municipalities the ability to deliver buildings faster, reduce risks, and keep options open for the future. With the 3Cycle system, a building is never a single-use investment but part of a circular, adaptable infrastructure strategy.

We believe cities need freedom to change their minds. With Creatomus solution, urban planning becomes flexible, transparent, and future-proof.
