Turkish Delight was established in 1982, and with Ahmet and Semra’s dedication, it has become a cherished tradition with locals and also a delectable experience for visitors. A foodie delight with a spectacular view tucked away from the hubbub of tourists. This humble kitchen comes alive with a tantalizing blend of captivating scents, tastes, and textures. Ahmet’s passion for food traces back to his roots, observing his mother in the kitchen at a young age. Many of his recipes are made from scratch and inspired by all the organic and fresh ingredients his mother used from their family farm in Turkey. Ahmet later moved from the farm to a more thriving metropolis and was introduced to Istanbul’s decadent array of culinary delights. He masterfully refined the art of handcrafted candies and has made Turkish delights a beloved treat and memorable experience with every bite.
Semra has proudly served as the heart and soul of Turkish Delight. She has seen generations of loyal customers carry on the tradition with their families and embodies the very definition of Turkish hospitality, providing everyone with a truly warm and authentic experience. Semra and Ahmet have a tremendous amount of passion for what they do and have embraced becoming cultural ambassadors, offering a taste of Turkey to anyone visiting Pike Place.
Aside from their savory and sweet indulgences, they are affectionately known as a cornerstone of the community. Their fierce devotion and personalized care very much mirror their values and also reflect the diversity and character of its denizens. Turkish Delight’s family of supportive customers is a testament to the quality, dedication, and commitment to the relationships they’ve fostered for over 40 years. It’s a feeling of mutual respect for which they are eternally grateful.
The family business now includes their daughter, Denise, who, after graduating from the University of Washington, recognizes the significance and also potential to re-invent, by adding new life and meaning to the existing business whilst maintaining its integrity and charm.
Denise believes finding “meaning” is when passion and purpose collide. Understanding the enduring influence of her venerable family business, she hopes to one day pay homage to what her parents have nurtured and also create something equally impactful and inspiring.
