TechSverige is the industry and employer association representing companies across Sweden’s tech, IT, and telecom sectors. With approximately 1,400 member companies—ranging from startups to multinational enterprises—and close to 100,000 employees, TechSverige plays a central role in building the conditions for a competitive and innovative tech industry.

As both an industry and employer association, TechSverige works to strengthen Sweden’s position as a world-leading tech nation—while also representing the interests and responsibilities of tech employers. This includes shaping the future of work, promoting fair and forward-looking labor market policies, and ensuring attractive, inclusive workplaces across the sector.

A VITAL SECTOR FOR SWEDEN’S ECONOMY

Sweden’s tech sector contributes significantly to the national economy. It generates over SEK 1,100 billion annually—close to seven percent of GDP—and employs more than 265,000 people across 59,000 companies. The sector also plays an important role in trade and innovation, with tech exports accounting for a large share of Sweden’s international business footprint.

TechSverige’s members operate across a wide range of areas, including software and hardware development, telecom infrastructure and 5G, cybersecurity, cloud services and data center, AI and data-driven innovation, tech and organizational consulting, digital public services and healthtech. This diversity reflects both the breadth and depth of Sweden’s tech ecosystem.

ADDRESSING THE TALENT CHALLENGE

One of TechSverige’s top priorities is solving the growing skills shortage. Sweden is projected to need an additional 18,000 tech specialists annually until 2028.

“Securing the tech sector’s, and also the whole society’s, long-term skills supply is crucial for Sweden’s competitiveness and ability to deliver welfare, innovation and growth,” says Åsa Zetterberg, CEO of TechSverige. “We need more people to choose tech careers – ideally people from diverse backgrounds and experiences, including both women and men – and we need the entire labor market to embrace the digital transformation and lifelong learning.”

TechSverige works to strengthen the long-term supply of tech competence by encouraging more people to choose tech careers, supporting high-quality education, and promoting stronger collaboration between industry, education providers and policymakers. Ensuring broad and sustainable access to tech skills is essential for Sweden’s competitiveness, welfare, and ability to drive innovation.

TECH FOR RESILIENCE AND SOCIETAL VALUE

In an era of heightened global risks, digital infrastructure and innovation are becoming increasingly central to societal resilience. From AI that strengthens healthcare systems and emergency preparedness to telecom networks that support national security – tech is now fundamental to how Sweden protects its citizens and institutions.

TechSverige actively highlights the role of tech in addressing societal challenges, from improving public services and twin transition to supporting secure and sustainable infrastructure. The organization sees tech not just as a business enabler, but as a foundation for long-term societal value.

WORKING TOGETHER FOR A STRONG DIGITAL SWEDEN

TechSverige gathers actors from across the tech ecosystem—companies, tech entrepreneurs, education providers, policymakers and researchers—to strengthen collaboration and accelerate Sweden’s digital development. Through joint initiatives, knowledge sharing and ongoing dialogue, the organisation helps shape a common direction for how tech can contribute to competitiveness, welfare and innovation.

“Sweden should be a natural home for tech companies, talent and investors,” says Åsa Zetterberg, CEO of TechSverige. “With close collaboration between industry and society, we can secure Sweden’s position as a leading tech nation.”

As the voice of Sweden’s tech employers, our focus is on creating the right conditions—not just for companies to grow, but for people to want to work, develop and stay in the industry,”
