Transform SC was launched in 2013 as a collaboration of business leaders, educators, students, parents, and policy makers transforming the public education system so every student graduates prepared for careers, college, and civic life. During its initial phase, Transform SC partnered with more than 70 schools from 29 districts, including 7 districts in their entirety. These inaugural Transform SC schools implemented innovative practices that reached every student, classroom, and teacher, and they laid the groundwork for the continuing work of the initiative.

Transform SC supported the development of the “Profile of the South Carolina Graduate,” codified by the SC General Assembly in 2016 and which has become a national model in illustrating industry success skills along with world class content for workers to thrive. Key skills and characteristics of the Profile, such as teamwork and critical thinking skills, remain those most desired by the business community.

With the “world of work” changing rapidly, there is no more critical time than now for companies across South Carolina to identify new, innovative strategies to hire talent ready to walk into the door prepared for employment success.

Transform SC has also conducted a number of research studies and surveys through the years focused on identifying the durable life and success skills needed by South Carolina’s businesses, measuring our students’ and educators’ confidence level in those skills, and asking how we can better prepare the next generation of workforce for the new technologies and opportunities coming to the Palmetto State.
“We bring business and education together so every South Carolina graduate is confidently ready for careers, college, and civic life.”
