In the quiet tech landscape of Estonia, a bold idea was born—one that would soon reshape the way people move on water.
Andres Nöps, an electrical engineer with a background in elite athletics and a passion for clean energy, began designing a new kind of electric hydrofoil. It had to be lightweight, modular, and travel-friendly—something that fit inside a backpack, yet delivered full performance on the water.

Drawing inspiration from his work on Estonia’s first solar-powered car (Solaride), he poured his energy into what would become one of the smartest eFoils in the world. He called it RayFoil—a name capturing the essence of sunlight, energy, and flow.
But what began as a personal engineering challenge quickly turned into something much larger.
Over the next 3 years, the prototype evolved through continuous testing with real riders—surfers, yacht owners, and outdoor travelers. The mast-integrated battery design became the brand’s signature: a compact, removable system that offered up to 80 minutes of ride time while fitting into airplane-safe battery formats.

Meanwhile, a chance meeting on a Spanish beach connected Andres with Mat Rauzier, a French designer and founder of Rayvolt Bikes. Both had independently named their prototypes “Rayfoil”—without ever meeting. It was more than coincidence—it was cosmic.
They were building the same dream from different sides of Europe.
Though Andres remains the founder of Ray Foil, this meeting marked the start of an international collaboration. Today, Ray Foil is backed by a growing network of engineers, designers, and surf professionals around the world, united by a mission:
To build the most portable, modular, and future-proof electric hydrofoil in the world.

Why Ray Foil Stands Out:
- Modular system – mix-and-match wings, boards, and masts
- Lightweight design – under 14kg with travel-friendly battery
- Quicksetup – easier than most competing systems
- Fits boats, cars, motorhomes, and planes
- Scalable – models from beginner to advanced (even prone foiling)
What’s Next?
Ray Foil is preparing to launch GEN 2– the next evolution of eFoil design.
- Carbon-inflatable board with top-mounted, swappable battery
- Air-travel safe modular battery system (under 100Wh per module)
- Quick-release mast and wing connectors
- Performance tuning for both surfers and newcomer
With pre-orders building and test centers launching in Estonia, Spain, and Italy, Ray Foil is ready to become the most versatile eFoil for travelers, water lovers, and adventure seekers.
