Plastics Materials
Plastic materials are polymers that can be shaped (molded), by various processes, using mechanical stress combined with the effect of heat which allows them to soften temporarily.
Composite Materials
Composite materials are polymers that are formed by the polymerization of resins usually mixed with reinforcing fillers such as fiberglass.
Molds and Tooling
A mold is an assembly of parts, sometimes complex, which is designed and machined to form a whole that will be used to manufacture other elements by molding processes of plastic and composite materials.
BY ENTREPRENEURS FOR ENTREPRENEURS
In 2008, 17 business leaders of the ChaudièreAppalaches region created an organization to unite all the forces able to enhance the competitiveness of the three sectors of the polymers industry in the region. Today, the action of Polymers Alliance Québec (PAQ) targets Québec as a whole.
MISSION
Foster and support the implementation of projects enabling the growth of manufacturing companies and the spread of the polymer industry in Québec.
POLYMER INDUSTRY IN QUÉBEC
+ 500 COMPANIES
+ 25,000 JOBS
+ 7,5 BILLION DOLLARS IN DELIVERIES
+ 2,4 BILLION DOLLARS IN EXPORTS
FUNDING FOR YOUR PROJECTS
As a cluster of excellence of the ministère de l’Économie et de l’Innovation du Québec, Polymers Alliance Québec (PAQ) can financially support, under certain conditions, up to 70% of eligible expenses of collaborative projects with the support of various government programs. “The expertise and manufacturing capacity of the plastics industry in Québec is vast. We have had the opportunity to help dozens of companies find not only a Québec supplier, but more importantly, concrete solutions to the needs and challenges of entrepreneurs in many economic sectors in particular through the implementation of structuring collaborative projects.”
A SINGLE POINT OF CONTACT FOR THE DEVELOPMENT AND COMMERCIALIZATION OF NEW PRODUCTS
The innovation network is large, unknown and it is difficult to find the right contacts. PAQ, through its Innovation Center in Plastics and Advanced Materials “Le Moule,” can qualify the precise needs of companies as well as inventors, in addition to accompanying them through all the stages of development and commercialization of their products.
As a catalyst of the multiple existing resources, PAQ makes sure to make the best possible connections through the members of its network of manufacturers, suppliers, technology transfer centers, research centers and technical experts as well as sources of financing in order to maximize the chances of success of each of the accompanied projects.
