SIBLINGS SIMPLIFY STREAMING BY THE SEASHORE

For years now, households all over the United States have heard rallying cries to “cut the cord,” to spend less and get more, including better internet service, by canceling their traditional cable television packages and, instead, subscribing to live streaming television services like YouTube TV, Sling TV, Hulu Plus Live TV, and DirecTV.

According to Nielsen, the average cable bill has crept up from $73 in 2018 to more than $215 today. And according to the American Customer Satisfaction Index, cable companies are consistently among the most disliked providers, with the likes of airlines and health insurance companies.

Yet over half of US households still pay that cable bill every month. Why is that?

One small, innovative company founded by two brothers in Fort Lauderdale has identified the problem and they have taken a unique approach to solving it.

“People are confused and intimidated,” explains MyBundle CEO Jason Cohen. “They want to save money. They want to enjoy more programming. But they rely on their local channels and their live news and sports and they do not know where to find them all without their current cable packages.”

Jason and his brother Danny Cohen, the Chief Technical Officer, co-founded MyBundle to help people make sense of all the streaming television choices.

Their “Find My Bundle” tool walks users through a step-by-step process to identify exactly what television programming their household has, wants, and needs and then recommends the simplest, most affordable bundle of streaming services to get it. The tool will even identify specific opportunities to sacrifice a few channels in order to save more money.

One five-star customer review on the MyBundle site articulates just how valuable this advice can be. “I straight love you,” professes Lauren G. “I had spent a stupid amount of time trying to figure out how to get the Tennis Channel and ESPN and was about to give up and call Xfinity! Then I stumbled upon your site! Thank you!”

MyBundle has a mobile app that offers solutions to some other universal TV-related problems, including for those who have already left traditional TV behind and stream exclusively. Users can browse or search for absolutely any TV show or movie and the app will let them know which streaming services it is available on right now. This eliminates the chore of clicking in and out of every service on the TV to see if the show or movie is there. App users can also build and maintain a list of all the movies and shows they want to watch, with synopses, ratings, trailers, and “where to watch” all in one place. The app can even help users manage their monthly streaming budget and get programming recommendations from their friends.

In addition to partnering with a long list of streaming services, MyBundle has also partnered with over 250 internet service providers (ISPs) around the country (the ones who stand to win more customers if people figure out how to replace cable) to help them help their customers navigate streaming television. Among other benefits, that partnership enables those ISPs to offer their customers free streaming services or credits bundled with their internet service.

Experts predict that streaming television will go through significant changes over the next few years with winners and losers among the key players. Giant companies like Comcast, Netflix, Disney, Google, and Amazon are investing billions of dollars in what is essentially a high-stakes game of poker. But MyBundle, a small startup led by a pair of superstar siblings in South Florida, is focusing on what typical households really need and just might be holding the winning cards.
