Mais Music offers personalized entertainment services and music curation for venues and events in South Florida. This includes booking bands and DJs for a single night or on an ongoing basis. From contortionists to classical violinists, it can mean assembling a jazz band specifically for the needs of your event, or a lively show full of performance and spectacle.
Ella Romand performing with the New World Symphony for Pulse
When the Franco-Brazilian Estela Romand moved to Miami to get her degree in Music Technology at Florida International University, she didn’t expect her side job as DJ would eventually lead to opening her own company. But through her DJ experience and her background as a musician, she recognized a need for a niche she knew well: music curation for venues.
What started for Romand as informally connecting musicians and DJs with hotels in need evolved into personalizing and curating bands while working closely with wedding planners and event producers. Romand is still a working pianist and DJ herself, performing with her electronic band Dsided, and with the New World Symphony’s acclaimed electronic orchestral performance “Pulse.” This lends Romand an intimate and up-to-date insight into Miami’s music scene.

“We, musicians, normally struggle when it comes to making a business out of our gigs,” says Romand. “We can be great as performers and entertainers, but we don’t always know how to sell our product. ” That’s where Mais Music comes in.
As a liaison between the venues that need entertainment and the musicians themselves, Romand is perfectly positioned to help both camps. “It’s not just a service,” says Romand. “With most entertainment companies, you go to their website and book a band, and that’s it,” says Romand. “At Mais Music, we create a personalized experience for each event.”

The Team at Mais Music knows that no two events are the same, and they pride themselves on their level of customization. “If there’s no band that’s just right for your event, we create one for you. We’ll take a singer from a Bossa Nova group, grab a Latin percussionist, and put them together in a Miami band.”
Mais Music also creates full-scale performances, from musicians to fire dance. “We ask: how can we enhance the experience?”
Romand is particularly proud of an event Mais Music did for the 2016 opening of the River Yacht Club, where she was the Music Director. With multiple “activations” throughout the night, Mais Music had a duo jazz with a grand piano (lifted in with a crane), a live DJ set, and aerialists and fire performers on the rooftop. Most impressively, in front of over 2000 guests, Mais Music had an opera singer zoom up to the restaurant in a boat, with a spotlight on her, regally draped in white to the audience’s amazement.

“People today still talk about that event,” Romand says with delight. Today, Mais Music has plans to expand beyond entertainment, using music as an integration point with the community. “South Florida is such a melting pot. One of my personal goals is to use the power of music to bring people together for the greater good,” says Romand.
