Materials shape the world we live in. They make car tires safer on icy winter roads, help batteries run longer in electric vehicles, and enable lighter, stronger, and more sustainable plastics in everyday products. Every breakthrough material begins its life in a laboratory, where it istested, pushed to its limits, and proven safe before ever reaching the real world.

Surprisingly, much of this testing is still done the same way it was decades ago. In thousands of laboratories around the world, technicians spend their days manually running tests, loading samples one by one, recording results, and repeating the same steps over and over. These tests range from fatigue testing to ensure products last for years, to destructive testing where materials are pulled apart until they fail. The work is essential, but it is slow, repetitive, and often inconsistent, with results varying depending on who runs the test. LabsCubed exists to change that reality.

Founded in Kitchener, Ontario, LabsCubed is reimagining how materials are tested by turning manual lab work into fast, automated workflows. The company’s mission is simple but ambitious: enable the creation of better plastics and rubbers by removing the bottlenecks that slow down material development. By automating key lab tests, LabsCubed helps companies reduce material development timelines from years to months, unlocking faster innovation and better products.

Ammar Jafar, CTO

The company began by tackling one of the most common and time-consuming tests used in rubber laboratories worldwide: tensile testing. Instead of asking technicians to spend hours every day running the same test, LabsCubed built an automated system that transformed how this work gets done. What was once repetitive and error-prone became consistent, efficient, and reliable.

That first breakthrough laid the foundation for an integrated ecosystem of automated testing equipment and software. The CubeOne and CubeTen systems automate the full tensile testing process, dramatically increasing sample throughput while delivering highly repeatable results. For research and development teams, CubeGo offers the same dependable performance in a compact and easy-to-use system designed for everyday lab work.

Khaled Boqaileh, CEO

The impact is already clear. Global manufacturers such as AirBoss, Bridgestone, Parker Hannifin, Caterpillar, and Hexpol rely on LabsCubed to keep their labs running smoothly. At Momentive’s facility in North Carolina, testing and data retrieval became faster and more enjoyable for staff. In Quebec, Soucy Techno achieved higher repeatability while freeing technicians to focus on higher-value work instead of repetitive tasks. And LabsCubed is just getting started.

The company is expanding beyond rubber into plastics and additional test methods, continuing to automate the most time-consuming parts of laboratory work. Its upcoming multi-test system will combine tensile, flexural, and hardness testing into a single compact unit, reducing the need for multiple machines and simplifying lab operations even further.

By modernizing how materials are tested, LabsCubed is turning laboratories into engines of innovation rather than bottlenecks. The result is faster development cycles, better data, and a future where breakthrough materials reach the world sooner than ever before.
