INRS is formed by four thematic and interdisciplinary research and training centers located in Quebec City, Montreal, Laval, and
Varennes: Eau Terre Environnement, Énergie Matériaux Télécommunications, Urbanisation Culture Société, Santé Biotechnologie. The
research and training programs focus on innovation and excellence since its creation in 1969.
The members of its community contribute to fundamental and applied research in strategic sectors for society and to the training of a high level scientific succession capable of scientific, social, and technological innovation.
At the top of Quebec universities for its research intensity for the past 10 years, it is thanks to the expertise of its professors and the excellence of its student members that INRS continues to innovate with partners and collaborators.
INRS has more than fifty high-level infrastructures to carry out cutting-edge research in strategic and promising sectors for Quebec. These facilities, some of which are unique in Canada, house sophisticated equipment that allows us to test technologies and promote
our work and research results, both here and internationally.
These research infrastructures allow us to position ourselves at the forefront of research in fields such as coastal erosion, sports doping control, sustainable energy, high-intensity lasers, waste recovery, and the characterization of therapeutic molecules.
Our collaborations with businesses, industries, practitioners, and governments lead to discoveries, the creation of technological applications and tools, and the emergence of start-ups.
