INNOVATION Quebec

Digital innovation is constantly pushing back the limits of what is possible. At the same time, cybersecurity stands as a bulwark against all the vulnerabilities caused by these technological advances. It protects these innovations so that they can play their role as levers of economic growth. The challenges and issues surrounding the cybersecurity industry are multiplying and expanding. They are driving a burgeoning ecosystem to create the security solutions and services critical to this journey forward.

To such an extent that cybersecurity itself becomes a source of innovation. Canada, where a remarkable potential has emerged and taken shape over the last few years, is committed to being at the forefront. In 2017, a statement was made: there are many measures and actions, but these instigators are progressing in scattered ranks. The need for a pan-Canadian, federating, bilingual structure that can reach out to both the private and public sectors and brings together the players in the cybersecurity ecosystem is increasingly urgent. “What if we came together to form a strike force?” It is in response to this question that In-Sec-M, the national cluster of the cybersecurity industry, was created on June 8, 2017. Since then, InSec-M, a not-for-profit organization, brings together companies, learning and research institutions, and government actors to take concerted action to increase the cohesion and competitiveness of the Canadian cybersecurity industry, both nationally and internationally. Synergies operate quickly and result in the creation and implementation of several innovation programs to foster the co-creation and improvement of innovative cybersecurity solutions. As new members join its ranks, In-Sec-M is launching new initiatives and expanding its reach, including
services to supports innovative Canadian SMEs by provide cybersecurity consulting services through the National Research Council Canada’s (NRC) Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP).

The organization of international networking missions is a special opportunity for In-Sec-M members and partners to strengthen Canada’s cybersecurity innovation ecosystem, while allowing it to expand across the globe. While never losing from sight one of its most important aspirations, that of stimulating investment and fostering cutting-edge research and development.
