Iberia belongs to the IAG Group and is a member of the oneworld airline alliance. Its mission is always to be the best option for both leisure and business travel.
Together with its low-fare Iberia Express and Iberia Regional Air Nostrum units, it has a fleet of 145 aircraft, and from its Madrid hub it reaches a vast range of destinations around the world – close to 140.
In addition to passenger transport, Iberia is a major provider of air cargo, aircraft maintenance, and airport handling services.
IBERIA NEXT CHAPTER
Over the past two years, Iberia has shown its commitment to connectivity as a key factor in stimulating the market, boosting demand, and reviving the economy.
As restrictions have been lifted and the vaccination program has been deployed, the airline has recovered routes and services, and today it operates 100% of its global network of destinations.
For 95 years Iberia has flown from Spain with the stated purpose of “generating prosperity by connecting people with the world”. In the immediate future, its strategy will remain focused on improving its position in all its markets and expanding earnings from its airport handling and aircraft maintenance units.
To achieve these goals, the airline has drafted a new plan dubbed Iberia Next Chapter, the roadmap on which it will deploy its strategy based on these five main pillars: trusted airline, financial strength, leadership in Madrid, employees as ambassadors of Iberia, and social and environmental sustainability.
POSITIONING AS AIRLINE PREFERRED BY CUSTOMERS
In the summer of 2022, Iberia expects to operate close to 85% of its capacity compared to 2019 and, throughout the year, it will continue its commitment to promoting mobility in a safe and responsible manner, placing the customer at the center of its business.
On June 1, 2022 Iberia flight and ground crews will debut new uniforms that symbolise the airline’s ongoing transformation. At the same time, its advances in digitalisation will help provide a new and more personalised flight experience, which will also reflect Iberia’s commitment to sustainability.
FIGHT AGAINST CLIMATE CHANGE
As part of the IAG Group, Iberia is committed to achieving zero net carbon emissions in 2050 under the group’s FlightPath Net Zero strategy. Fuel efficiency per passenger is to rise by 10% in 2025, while net emissions are to decline by 20% and 10% of flights will use sustainable fuel in 2030, with full climate neutrality to be achieved by 2050.
In addition to environmental sustainability, Iberia is also working to improve the economic and social impact of its business, through more efficient operations, a more sustainable travel experience, and a commitment to the future.
Measures include the replacement of the fleet with the most fuel-efficient aircraft, as well as the introduction of all electric ground vehicles, the use of sustainable aviation fuels, the reduction of gross aircraft weight, the progressive elimination of single-use plastic aboard flights, and improved in-flight waste management, among others.
