Six lawyers and six staff personnel came together to launch Freeborn & Peters LLP on June 6, 1983. The group was young but determined to grow the Freeborn’s business and provide exceptional legal services. In the summer of 1992, Freeborn moved to 311 South Wacker Drive in Chicago, which remains its headquarters today. Freeborn’s Springfield office then opened in 2000, providing an opportunity to represent clients before the Illinois General Assembly and state governmental agencies. In 2006, the firm launched the E-Discovery Lab, which has since saved clients millions of dollars in comprehensive data management and discovery charges. From 2016 to 2017, Freeborn merged with other law firms in key markets to develop offices in New York, Richmond, and Tampa. Today, Freeborn has over 130 attorneys across five offices, practicing in eight practice groups and five industry teams.
