FROM A SWEDISH RESEARCH LAB TO A GLOBAL MISSION FOR HUMAN-WILDLIFE COEXISTENCE
Flox is redefining how humans and wildlife share the planet. Founded in 2020 as a spin-off from the AI research lab at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, the company has built the world’s first adaptive system that uses artificial intelligence and bio acoustics to detect, interpret, and deter wild animals from entering critical areas — safely and humanely.

The idea was born from a growing global problem: as habitats shrink, animals are increasingly forced into roads, railways, airports, farms, and industrial zones, leading to billions in damages every year. Traditional deterrence methods such as fences, pyrotechnics, or chemicals are ineffective, cruel, and costly. Flox offers an intelligent alternative — a technology that understands and communicates with wildlife rather than fighting against it.
At the heart of Flox’s innovation is its Wildlife Brain, a generative AI trained on animal sounds, visual patterns, and behavior data collected from the field. Through its autonomous edge devices and drone-based systems, Flox continuously learns from every encounter. Each detection helps refine the company’s growing database of animal “languages,” enabling smarter, more context-aware responses over time.

Today, Flox operates across Europe and North America, working with customers including the Swedish Transport Administration, WWF, Denver International Airport, and Alstom — the world’s second-largest train manufacturer. The technology is already deployed in airports, along railway corridors, and in agricultural regions where human-wildlife conflict has historically been severe.
Flox’s approach combines deep scientific rigor with design simplicity. Its portable Flox Edge units — small, battery-powered devices equipped with AI processors and bio acoustic speakers— can be placed anywhere: next to a runway, railway fence, or crop field. They detect wildlife using cameras and microphones, identify species and intent, and instantly trigger the most effective deterrent sounds to guide animals safely away. All data flows into a cloud-based Wildlife Platform that visualizes patterns, generates regulatory reports, and supports data-driven management.

Beyond technology, Flox stands for a philosophy: coexistence through intelligence. By replacing fear with understanding, the company offers a humane, scalable path toward protecting both economic and ecological value. As global biodiversity declines and human infrastructure expands, Flox represents a new type of innovation — one that doesn’t just connect people to machines, but reconnects people to the planet.
“We believe AI can become nature’s ally,” says Sara Nožková, CEO & Co-Founder. “Our goal is to make the invisible visible — to let technology learn from wildlife, not the other way around.”
With deployments spanning multiple continents and an ever-growing dataset of animal communication, Flox is building something extraordinary: a living, learning network that bridges the gap between human progress and the natural world.
