INNOVATE® South Carolina

Since 1947, Denmark Technical College has been a lifeline for education and economic mobility in South Carolina’s rural corridor. Established as a training center for African American veterans returning from World War II, Denmark Tech has grown into a proud HBCU with a legacy of service, resilience and transformation.

For generations, we’ve opened doors to opportunity for students who are often overlooked, offering practical, affordable programs that lead to meaningful careers in fields like healthcare, cybersecurity, skilled trades, technology and energy. Our classrooms, labs and training ranges are places where ambition meets access and where students gain the tools to build futures without leaving their communities behind.

Today, we’re investing in rural talent with programs aligned to local workforce needs, wraparound support that reflects real-life challenges and a campus culture defined by care, connection and purpose.

We may be small, but we’re agile, ambitious and deeply rooted in the place we serve. At Denmark Tech, innovation doesn’t mean leaving rural behind. It means building something better, right here.

Fueling Futures. Powering Possibility.

The Center of Energy at Denmark Technical College is a hub of innovation designed to prepare the next generation of essential energy professionals. Located in the heart of South Carolina’s rural corridor, the center combines advanced instruction with hands-on, skills-based training to meet the evolving demands of the modern energy industry.

With cutting-edge tools, simulated outdoor training grounds and experienced instructors with industry credentials, students train in everything from power distribution and system maintenance to renewable energy concepts and job site safety. While solar energy is still in its early stages locally, the center is actively developing programs in solar installation and EV maintenance and manufacturing to meet the workforce needs of tomorrow.

Through registered apprenticeships, strong industry partnerships and programs that span both traditional and emerging energy pathways, graduates are equipped to succeed in high-demand, high-wage careers across utility services, electrical trades, HVAC, nuclear operations and the growing fields of solar and EV technology. This is training built for the future, rooted in the needs of South Carolina and fueled by students ready to power what comes next.
